Helping One Guy Honors Slade Bailey
Slade Bailey, a dedicated husband, father, and small business owner, is currently undergoing treatment for Grade 4 Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Married for close to 32 years, Slade and Jessica have built a life rooted in faith, family, and a whole lot of fun. Their story began in 1992 at Roswell Street Baptist Church, where they met in the college and career department and were married two years later. Together, they have raised Madison, Sawyer and Harper with a faith in the Lord that they have clung to since long before they knew each other. Slade and Jessica happily welcomed Zack as a son‑in‑law in 2017, and in June of 2025 became “Pops” and “Shugie” to their first grandchild, Nash Taylor!
On January 5th, Jessica took Slade to the doctor. Blood tests were run, and a CT scan of his brain was ordered for a week later. On January 13th, while they were on the way home from the CT scan, Jessica got a call asking her to bring Slade to his doctor immediately to discuss the CT results. They were told that he had a large mass in the right frontal lobe of his brain, and he needed to go directly to the emergency room to have an MRI done. Within a couple hours, they were told that the mass in Slade’s brain consisted of intense swelling around a large brain tumor that needed to be removed as soon as possible. On January 20th, a craniotomy was performed on Slade’s brain. 80-85% of the tumor was removed and was sent off for genetic testing. A couple weeks later, the test results were in, and Slade and Jessica received the worst news possible…the tumor was a Grade 4 Glioblastoma (the most aggressive form of brain cancer).
Slade is currently receiving radiation therapy every Monday through Friday morning and takes chemotherapy orally, 7 nights a week at bedtime. He will receive a 4 week break after his last treatment. He will have a follow up MRI on 4/20 before meeting with his oncology team on 4/22 about the next step in his treatment.
